December has been a very busy month full of lots of Christmas fun.

St Vital Pyjama Day

PreK pyjama day was a lot of fun.

We played in our jammies, ate snack in our jammies, and our favorite part was watching a movie in our jammies.

St Vital Gingerbread Fun

We have been having a lot of fun reading different Gingerbread man stories and creating different gingerbread things in our classroom.

Through our activities we have been working on:

• Vocabulary (e.g. names of different spices, describing words)
• Recalling story events and retelling them
• Following directions (e.g. reading and following a recipe)
• Taking turns
• Expressing creativity (e.g. using our gingerbread playdough)
• Using our imagination (e.g. pretending to make cookies in the house center)

Fun in the Gym

With the colder weather we have been spending more time going to the gym.

In the gym we not only have a chance to work on large muscle skills but we also learn to:

• listen to directions
• share a larger space
• move safely
• participate in new activities
• and of course have fun!

We recently spent time in the gym moving in different ways and trying some equipment.

• learn new vocabulary (e.g. soaring, tiptoeing, slithering)
• and of course have fun!

We recently spent time in the gym moving like different animals.

Fairy Tale Fun

We had lots of fun reading different fairy tales and trying many different things in our classroom about the stories.

BCS Halloween

We had a lot of fun dressing up at school for Halloween.

We worked together to make a book about our Halloween costumes.  We had a lot of fun choosing the cover and background music together as a class.

We hope you enjoy seeing what we all were for Halloween.

Our Pumpkins

We worked hard to make our pumpkins and have made a movie describing what they look like.

Here is what we did to make our pumpkins:

• Mixed red and yellow fingerpaint to make orange
• Cut out our pumpkins
• Tore black paper to make a face
• Recorded our voices decribing our pumpkins

 

Through this activity we worked on:

• experimenting with new materials (fingerpaint)
• experimenting with mixing colors
• practiced our cutting skills
• represented our ideas (making a face for our pumpkins)
• communicated our ideas (recorded our voices)

Halloween Fun

We had a lot of fun dressing up at school for Halloween.

We are working on a Halloween book about our costumes and hope to post it soon!

 We had a lot of fun trying different Halloween activities and games.

The yummy Halloween snacks were a big hit too!

We love snow!

Although the snow this week caught us off guard we were very excited to get a chance to play in it.

We can't wait to see what we can do in the snow once there is more to play in.

Family Day Fun

We have enjoyed having our families join us at school for fun on family days.

On family days we enjoy a variety of activities, including:

Crafts

Cooking

and a whole lot of fun

Fall in PreK

We have had a lot of fun learning about fall and the changes that happen.

St. Vital Family Days are a lot of fun

We have enjoyed having our families participate with us on family days.

On family day we have enjoyed; story time, playing, cooking, and making crafts.

We are looking forward to more family fun in the future.

Ladybug fun

We have been spending a lot of time outside enjoying the fabulous weather.

We've also been very excited to find lots of ladybugs around our courtyard.

While looking for ladybugs we are learning:

• cooperation with our classmates
• to care for living things
• to be curious about the things around us
• to try new things (e.g. letting ladybugs crawl on us)

A Fun Day in PreK

Today we had a lot of fun setting up our blue balance beam.

While we were on the balance beam we were working on:

• sharing
• taking turns
• cooperating
• following behind someone
• communicating what we wanted
• being patient
• balancing
• moving at different speeds
