BCS Rainbow Adventures

We have had a busy week in PreK

On Tuesday we ventured to the grocery store, thank you to all parents who went with us.

Please keep an eye on our classroom blog as we will be posting a video about our trip to the store soon.

Here we are waiting to start our store tour.

While at the store we purchased different fruits and vegetables to take back to our classroom to try.
Here's our basket full of vegetables.  We tried to find a rainbow of different colored vegetables.

Here's our basket full of fruit.  I think we found fruit in 6 different colors.

On Thursday we made fruit and vegetable rainbows with the items we purchased on our field trip.

Here's a look at some of our fruit and vegetable rainbows.

Back to school today, YEAH!!!!!

You could certainly tell by the smiles on our faces this morning that we were all VERY happy to be back at school.

We were all excited to see our friends again and to get to play with some new things in the classroom.

Here's a look at some of what we did today:

St. Vital Valentine Fun

The last few weeks have kept us busy with all sorts of Valentine activities, including: fingerpainting, decorating hearts, playdough fun, card making, water table fun, sewing, and of course lots and lots of sparkles.

Through all of these activities we have been working on:
  • Sharing and cooperating with others
  • Trying new materials
  • Fine motor skills (sewing hearts)
  • Creativity
  • Listening and following directions
and of course we've had a lot of fun too!

We've put together a little video to show you some of the Valentine fun we have had.  We hope you enjoy seeing all that has been keeping us busy the last few weeks.

Our zoo has closed

Students have enjoyed spending the last few weeks creating a zoo in our dramatic play center and exploring different animals around our classroom.

We spent a lot of time learning the names of different animals and discussing the idea of a habitat.

Here's a look at some of what we did:

We worked on making trees for the giraffes to eat.

We worked hard being zookeepers.

Here we are exploring some animal puzzles.

Working hard on a crocodile habitat.

Our animal hunt was lots of fun!

We found animals in the sand.

We painted animals.

We enjoyed animal stories too!
What's next............

We are working hard to create a grocery store in our dramatic play center.

Grocery Store Adventures

Our fun with boxes has come to an end and students have been asking for quite awhile now if we can use the shopping cart in our classroom.

Once the shopping cart appeared in the dramatic play center students immediately began to play store.  We have started to collect a variety of boxes and grocery store items, which students are having a lot of fun with.  We have even found a working cash register with "real" money.

Here's a look at the fun we are beginning to have in our classroom grocery store:

We hope to continue our grocery store exploration when we get back to school on February 27th.
