This blog has been created to keep track of the variety of activities that fill our school days.
We hope to give you a glimpse of what's happening in our busy classroom and all that we are learning.
Our fun with boxes has come to an end and students have been asking for quite awhile now if we can use the shopping cart in our classroom.
Once the shopping cart appeared in the dramatic play center students immediately began to play store. We have started to collect a variety of boxes and grocery store items, which students are having a lot of fun with. We have even found a working cash register with "real" money.
Here's a look at the fun we are beginning to have in our classroom grocery store:
We hope to continue our grocery store exploration when we get back to school on February 27th.
The last few weeks have kept us busy with all sorts of Valentine activities, including: fingerpainting, decorating hearts, playdough fun, card making, water table fun, sewing, and of course lots and lots of sparkles.
Through all of these activities we have been working on:
Sharing and cooperating with others
Trying new materials
Fine motor skills (sewing hearts)
Creativity
Listening and following directions
and of course we've had a lot of fun too!
We've put together a little video to show you some of the Valentine fun we have had. We hope you enjoy seeing all that has been keeping us busy the last few weeks.
Over the past week we have noticed that students needed a change in the dramatic play center.
We polled the class to see what they wanted to do and the winning idea was boxes.
First we had to clear out the dramatic play area...this was a big job.
Then we provided students with a variety of boxes to explore.
To give students a view ideas we listened to the story Not A Box- here is a link to the story you can watch at home:
After listening to students expressing an interest in creating a zoo we have provided them with a variety of materials to explore different animals and create a zoo.
They having been working hard this week building our classroom zoo.
Here is a quick peek at some of what we have been doing and working on:

We have had a very cold week at school and haven't been able to go outside all week.
With the cold weather outside we decided to bring the snow inside so students still had a chance to experience it.
Here's a look at some of the fun we had.
This week we hope things warm up so we can all go outside and have fun in the snow!
